A journey in motion

In February 2026, Sébastien Desrumeaux presents his first solo exhibition, Photographic Wanderings, in Arès, Gironde. This exhibition marks a significant milestone in the visibility of his/her work and affirms a photographic practice already rooted in a sensitive approach to reality.

In July 2026, he continued his artistic journey during a training internship with Antoine d’Agata, Magnum agency photographer, as part of the Rencontres d’Arles photography festival.

These two moments bear witness to a developing journey, nourished by practice, encounters, and a discerning eye.

"Photography does not allow me to show
the world as I see it. It allows me to attempt
to understand the world as it is."

Sébastien Desrumeaux was born in 1983 in northern France.
After studies in the humanities and a career in logistics, in France and abroad, he chose in 2025 to make photography his primary activity. It was a natural evolution for someone who had long used the camera as a tool for creation and for understanding reality.
Through his documentaries and photographic commissions, his experiments invite us to look more deeply at the places, objects, landscapes, and silent presences that make up our daily lives.

A photographic direction

His work reflects a sensibility close to that of documentary photography. He notably cites the influence of great photographers associated with the Magnum agency, such as Harry Gruyaert, Raymond Depardon, and René Burri.

The sound also nourishes his work. These vibrations act as a narrative that reinforces the image, shaping its meaning and its reality.

Traces of human presence serve as a common thread, running through much of his work. Whether photographing a landscape in flux, a piece of architecture, an everyday scene, or a place of transit, Sébastien seeks to reveal elements that tell a story without necessarily articulating it.

The color plays an essential role in his or her approach. A particular light or a tension between two hues can transform the perception of a scene. Color contributes to the story of a moment.

Commissions, personal projects, and passing on knowledge

Based in the Gironde region, Sébastien Desrumeaux works with private individuals, businesses, artists, cultural organizations, and institutions.

Images are omnipresent in our environment (social media, AI, etc.). Their meanings and the reality they represent raise questions. Against this backdrop, the artist also develops initiatives focused on how to interpret them. A photographer’s perspective opens the door to critical thinking. After all, who is better placed to teach us how to look than an imaging professional?
